Smarter Planet Challenge for Student Entrepreneurs – This year we will be working with the Merrimack Valley Sandbox to take the Green Business Idea contest to the next level. Teams of students and mentors/advisors will compete for stage 1 “venture” funding in Feb-April timeframe, with all teams showcased and winners for stage 1 funding announced at HGG. The winning projects will have until June to complete stage 1 projects and compete for stage 2 funding in the Fall. The grants will be $250 – $500.
The theme will be to show how their ventures will contribute to a smarter and more sustainable planet, and to translate the net benefits to terms that people understand, such as generating enough commercial tax revenue to fund an additional teacher, police officer, or to better maintain a building!
Speakers – Learn about new advances in green technologies. Al Gore’s group will be sending a speaker
Film Screenings – To be determined.
Live Music – A unique children band from the area will be performing live.
Children’s Activities – HGG is all about a better world for our kids, and we give them all the attention we can with crafts and activities to engage and inspire – by far the most popular part of the fair.
Vendors – Participants at the event will include non-profit organizations, school organizations, local businesses, and others that will represent green ideas across a spectrum of goods and services.

Prospective sponsors, participants and vendors: please go to our Haverhill Goes Green! page for detailed information and applications.
